  • The sportsman spirit shown by Novak and Roger is just unreal especially Roger. It was exact opposite of how Rafa reacted against Berdych, though Rafa is also a great sport. We perhaps will never get a generation like Fedex-Nadal and Djokovic. They were, are and will be the best ever. Even the erstwhile big boys with exception of Sampras like Ivan Lendl, Becker, wilander, Mc, Borg, Edberg are astonished and left feeling under achievers in front of this trio. We need to just accept that this is the pinnacle of a sport which will be very difficult to surpass for the coming generations.

  • It’s unbelievable how Fed handled the situation after that point which was clearly out. No one, absolutely no one could have been this calm. And they say Nadal is humble. Get out! See what drama he did on that point against Berdych and it wasn’t even a set point. Nothing against Nadal but pretty sure if that was Djokovic, the media would have put a sword by his neck. I see most of these players are humble only when they keep winning which is the easy enough to do. Their real character is seen when they start losing and that’s what separates humility from arrogance. Humility is what is shown by Argentinian players like Delpo or Schwarzman or French like Tsonga. Anyways, I never knew about either of those two points so thanks to the uploader for that and many other amazing points in the video.

    • This was before you were allowed to challenge a call in a match. They had the technology to do it, as you can see in the video, but it wasn’t used live in matches until later on. So the umpire’s call was the final word on the matter. Fortunately, they didn’t have a screen on court showing how out that shot was otherwise I wonder if Fed would have still been able to keep his cool. Nah, he probably still would have.. haha

The fact is that Federer was losing before the MTOs and somehow managed to turn it around after, even if it was not immediately visible. There have been instances where Djokovic has also been broken after MTOs, but of course you never mention that

    Elijah S.Elijah S.Il y a 28 jours
    • @Luigi Manzelli The umpire didn't stop the point, Rafa did. The umpire called the ball out so Rafa who was going to challenge didn't need to after all. If we follow the rules blindly, then yes, the point should be replayed, but in terms of fairness, Berdych deserves the point.

      Sergio SarmientoSergio SarmientoIl y a 25 jours
    • @Sergio Sarmiento it does not matter what he agree to, it's pretty easy to understand 1) the player stops the point, if the ball is in he loses the point 2) the umpire stops the point, if the ball was in and the last hit was inside the court they replay the point since this is the second option the have to replay the point, Nadal can do what he wants, he can lie on the ground or throw the racket, the umpire stopped that point so it needs to be replayed with absolutely zero doubt

      Luigi ManzelliLuigi ManzelliIl y a 25 jours
    • @Bilal Attal Sorry again, but you´re still wrong. Rules say if you stop the play and the ball was in, you lose the point. If Rafa didn´t rise his arm (he did it BEFORE the umpire´s call), the umpire should replay the point.

      Miguel BarahonaMiguel BarahonaIl y a 27 jours
    • @Miguel Barahona Lol, It was Byrdech challenge because the call was out. Logic says rafa lose Rules says replay the point That's it

      Bilal AttalBilal AttalIl y a 27 jours
    • @Bilal Attal You're wrong. Nadal stopped the play calling the ball out. If you stop the game and the ball was in (as challenge demonstrated) you lose the point. As Nadal stopped the play, it doesn't matter if the umpire also called the ball out.

    • @froma happy I mean, when you hear it from every possible analyst and Nadal himself that the high forehand to one handed backhand is the play, I tend to give it some credence. Beyond, you know, what my own functioning eyes see

      BollocksBollocksIl y a 17 jours
    • @Bollocks man you Fedfans got all sort of arguments. Just take the stats as it is . It is harmless. Federer's backhand helped him to his 20 slams. he didn't have problems with other players except nadal because nadal justs dominates him. even outside clay federer is just slightly ahead in h2h after winning about 5 or 6 matches in a row lately. At their primes Nadal vs Federer with a coin toss on any surface , i will pick nadal. nadal vs nole on any coin toss surface i pick nole, federer vs nole coin toss surface i pick nole (p.s i'm a Nole fan)

      froma happyfroma happyIl y a 17 jours
    • @froma happy it's the 2 handed backhand vs. 1 handed and just his game being more suited to long grinding tennis. Clay amplifies nadal's best features; it hinders federer's. Nole is perfectly in the middle and isn't bothered by the high balls to the backhand. I would agree with your assessment -- I would also add I think the 2005 through 2007 clay battles between Fed and Rafa (2006 in particular) were the best clay matches out of any between the three. Yes, the 24-16 head to head is clear for all to see. I think it's simply worth a look that almost 70% of nadal's majors and the reason his head to head is skewed is due to one surface and one surface alone. It doesn't detract from the head to head; but it does put it into context and it's why I currently can't put Nadal ahead of Fed (among other reasons). At 21 (in 2008) he won a grand slam. Do you think the entirety of 2009 and 2010 don't count as prime, considering he was a grand slam champion? Personally I'd count anything after 2012 outside of Fed's prime if it makes any difference

      BollocksBollocksIl y a 17 jours
    • @Bollocks at 21 Nole was still immature while Fed was in his prime . When Nole got to his prime, he flipped the script. As for clay , how come Nole has a better h2h against Nadal with all that Nadal clay dominance but Federer doesn't??? i actually consider Federer and Nole close on clay with Federer sligthly ahead of Nole. You can't cherry pick the stats you want. Nadal has federer number in the matchup, clear for all to see even Federer's twins..lol

    • @froma happy lmao it's 14-2 on clay, it's not even close as with everything in Nadal's record, clay skews it because he's the GOAT on the surface. but Federer only has 4 matches on grass against him. hardly a fair fight of favourite surfaces no? And how many teenage Nole matches do you think there were lmao they played 19 times before 2011 (Nole 24yrs, Fed 30yrs) and 31 times after that. When does your nole teen period end? 2008, when he was 21 and won his first slam? They played 6 times before that lmao. 2006, the last year he was a teenager? They had 2 matches then.

    • @Ed Lockley Yes it is, but then again, he doesn't have too many weaknesses. In my opinion, I would say it's his mental issue, but they obviously don't hinder him too much.

    • @PhoenixGamer34 I know I think even though he’s the GOAT for me, he’s notoriously bad at winning crucial points. That’s arguably Djoko’s biggest strength

    • @Ed Lockley Yeah, he can still play tennis at a high level, but you would think he would be better at converting break points than he actually, considering how good he is even now.
